Braces tightened! They hurt so bad! Any ideas of what to do?

I just got my braces tightened and they hurt sooo bad! They have have never hurt this bad! I also have something called a herpts appliance and it hurts my jaw sooo much I get terrible headaches!!! Any suggestions of what to do?
