How many night crawlers should i have in a 20 gallon tote?

i have a 20 gallon tote i have placed news paper shreds a little dirt and some moss in to help keep it moist i have around 500-550 nightcrawlers in it right now. they are about 4-7 inches long to many in my tote or should i add more?
