Fire eel hand feeding tips?

i have a 13inch fire eel i have had for about 6months and have try ed everything to get him to hand feed and to grow. he is the same size now as the day i got him. i have try ed to feed him everything from blood worms, night crawlers, guppy's,krill, and ghost shrimp. and the ghost shrimp is the only thing he will eat. he stays hid en all day and even when the lights are off only coming out for a few min to feed on the ghost shrimp then he gos back into hiding, i know from the YouTube videos and the few articles i have read on fire eels that thy will hand feed but mine will not even take food from a feeding stick. i want to get him to hand feed and get him to grow to around 3ft so i need some GOOD tips for the best way to get him to grow and to hand feed i also would like to know what a healthy fire eels growth rate is...............HELP PLEASE
